ACE - Suicide Intervention

E-mail Print PDF

When our Soldiers come back from war many deal with PTSD and some people that deal with PTSD come to a point where they think about killing themselves. Because we love our Soldiers who deal with PTSD we don't want them to kill themselves so we have to stop to look away. We have to remind ourselves that not everything is allright  when they come back home. That they do have problems and that they need all the support they can get. They need us! However today I saw a little card at my very own Soldiers place and I thought it would be nice to add this to our website. It is the Suicide Intervention card from the United States Military. Everything on there goes for any other military service, doesn't matter if british, german or polish if you have a battle buddy struggling please read carefully:

Ask your buddy

  • Have the courage to ask the question, but stay calm
  • Ask the question directly, e.g Are you thinking of killing yourself?

Care for your buddy

  • Remove any means that could be used for self-injury
  • Calmly control the situation; do not use force
  • Actively listen to produce relief

Escort your buddy

  • Never leave your buddy alone
  • Escort to the chain of command, a Chaplain, a behavioral health professional, or a primary care provider
